Explanations

Machine wash, Normal

Clothes may be washed with hottest water available with detergent or soap in a machine designed for this purpose

Machine wash, Cold

Initial water temperature should not exceed 30C

Machine wash, Warm

Initial water temperature should not exceed 40C

Machine wash, Hot

Initial water temperature should not exceed 60C

Machine wash, Permanent Press

Clothes may be washed only on the setting designed to preserve Permanent Press with cool down or cold rinse prior to reduced spin.

Machine wash, Gentle or Delicate

Clothes may be washed only on the setting designed for gentle agitation and/or reduced time for delicate items.

Hand wash

Clothes may be washed gently by hand through the use of water, soap or detergent.

Do not wash

Clothes may not be safely washed by any process. Normally accompanied by dry cleaning instructions.

Bleach when needed

Any commercial available bleach product may be used in the washing process.

Non-chlorine bleaches when needed.

Only a non-chlorine, color-safe bleach may be used in the washing process. Chlorine bleach may not be used.

Do not bleach

No bleach product may be used. Clothes are not colorfast or structurally able to withstand any bleach.

Tumble dry, normal

The dryer may be used at the hottest available temperature setting.

Tumble dry, low heat

The dryer may be used at low heat setting

Tumble dry, medium heat

The dryer may be used at medium heat setting.

Tumble dry, high heat

The dryer may be used at high heat setting.

Tumble dry, no heat

The dryer may be used at No Heat or Air Only setting

Do not tumble dry

The dryer may not be used. Usually accompanied by an alternate drying method symbol.

Iron, any temperature

Ironing may be performed at any available temperature with or without steam is acceptable.

Iron, low

Ironing may be performed at low temperature setting.

Iron, medium

Ironing may be performed at medium  temperature setting

Iron, high

Ironing may be performed at high temperature setting

Do not iron

Clothes cannot be ironed or they may be damaged.

Dry clean, any solvent

Clothes may be dry cleaned with any solvent.

Dry clean, petroleum solvent only

Clothes may be dry cleaned with using only petroleum solvent.

Dry clean, any solvent except Trichloroethylene

Clothes may be dry cleaned with any solvent except tricholoroethylene.
